Yoshi Nakano

Yoshiaki Nakano was first introduced to shiatsu and moxibustion (Oriental herbal heat remedy) by his father, Shinsuke Nakano, who practiced seitai jyutsu (Japanese body alignment). At the age of eleven Nakano began to practice Japanese Massage, calligraphy, martial arts and moxibustion.

He graduated from the Ohashi Institute in New York City (1989), where he continued to study privately with Master Ohashi and to serve as a teacher and shiatsu practitioner for five years.

In addition to his work as a shiatsu instructor, he was the Director of Oriental Body Work at the Bateman Institute for Health Education in New York City for nine years, where he practiced and taught shiatsu and moxibustion. He served on the faculty of the Elemedica Institute/Center for Traditional Medicine in Maryland, the Desert Institute of the Healing Arts in Arizona for six years, and trained body workers at Ten Thousand Waves, a Japanese Health Spa in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Nakano also studied with Master Mantak Chia, and integrates Qi Gong and ampuku (Japanese abdominal massage) with his shiatsu practice.

Nakano is the founder of Zen Tribe Wellness.  A native of Japan, Nakano now resides in Arizona and New Mexico, where he offers Eastern health care programs, including shiatsu, Taoist cooking and Zen calligraphy.
