Shiatsu-Do

Heart of Eastern Body/Mind Therapy

Shiatsu-Do is based on the principles of Zen Philosophy and Traditional Chinese Medicine, integrated with Japanese Bodywork (including Anma and Zen Shiatsu).

In a shiatsu-do treatment session, a holistic view of the receiver is used to help awaken the body’s innate healing ability, to release emotional blockages, and to restore life essence and present awareness.

Shiatsu-do is an experience of spirit that embraces body and mind in a euphoric way.

An assessment is made to find the quality of vitality rooted in the abdomen/hara (the hara is where the functions of body, mind and spirit manifest), to determine how to unblock and rebalance the yin/yang meridian system, and to free the natural flow of electromagnetic energy (Qi or Ki) with intuitive touch.

The physical techniques include: stretching, leaning, tapping, rubbing, kneading, thumbing, palming, and holding.

Shiatsu-Do activates the parasympathetic nervous system, releases melatonin, improves circulation and immunity.

The whole session is given on a futon, and the receiver is fully clothed.

Precaution to Clients

If you consume alcohol, refined sugar, caffeine, nicotine or drugs (pharmaceutical, recreational, addictive), Shiatsu-Do may cause minor side effects as part of a detoxification stage, leading to body purification.

Side effects may include headache, nausea, mucus discharge, swelling, bruising, numbness, dark urine, light-headedness, disorientation or fatigue.

Maintain good hydration and rest after each session.

It is your responsibility to take care of your internal health.
